USA: The Republicans Don't Want Energy Efficient Light Bulds

This is rather sad as Republicans first have passed a bill in 2007 (by George W. Bush) which would enable the american society to shift to energy efficient light bulbs and now have passed another bill which would prevent a such change. The previous bill statedstated that it would ban the 100-watt incandescent bulb next year and other versions subsequently which will increase energy efficiency by 30%.

USA: West Virgina - Rockefeller's High-Tech Job Opportunities Between our Shores Act, AKA High-Tech JOBS has been Introduced

Another manufacturing bill is being introduced after the loud $500 million Advanced Manufacturing Partnership Initiative by Obama. This time Senator Jay Rockefeller introduced the High-Tech Job Opportunities Between our Shores Act, or the High-Tech JOBS Act, which will create training programs for advanced manufacturing jobs in West Virgina. The partnership will be build between universties and businesses. In this case it would include Caterpillar Inc, Dow Chemical Co., Allegheny Technologies, Carnegie Mellon University, MIT, and the Georgia Institute of Technology.

US: Maryland Will Adopt the International Green Construction Code in March 2012

One of the well known organizations International Codes Commission (ICC), USGBC along with Marylands state representatives has been very active in developing a new madatory "Green Code" which will force household and business owners to increase their energy efficiency. The new bill will be effective in March 2012. Maryland as a state has decieded to join the state of Rhode Island, Washington, Colorado, and New Hampshire who have passed a such legislation.

Bulgaria: Recycling Facility Opens and Creates 40 Jobs

A recycling facility was opened in the city of Varna, Bulgarira. A $36.6M investment supported by the state created 40 job during its 25 year life span which has began in May 2011. It is estimated to process 140,000 tonnes of waste per year. State officials are planning to start similar projects in Bulgarian state representatives would like to build similar recycling centers in municipalties which create over 100 tonnes of waste.

Up to 115,000 Full Times Job from the UK's Wind and Marine Energy Sector in the Next Decade

Tens of thousands of jobs (up to 115,000 full time) could be created in the next decade through investment in the UK's wind and marine energy sectors. However governments and businsses needs to create the infrastructure and security required for the industry to thrive. However the UK skills system is currently failing to 'ensure an adequate supply' of qualified new recruits entering the labour market. This will lead to creating jobs for foreign companies rather than domestic ones causing a leakage in the circular flow of income.

A Machine that Can Turn Waste Into Compost in One Hour

Ecologico-Logic Inc, created a machine, 'The Muncher' which can turn compost in less than one hour, compared to the traditional 45 days. It took the firm’s research team 10 years to develop a such machine which could break down waste using microorganisms. It does not produce any harmful byproducts. It reduces the actual volume of solid waste by 75% to 80%. The product is designed to handle 50 tons of waste per day and costs about $20 in energy (it runs on electricity) per ton of waste,

Porgress Energy Will Help their Customers Save Energy and Money

Progress Energy launched a new initiative which will help their customers save their money by increasing their energy efficiency. They will carry out this program on 50,000 of their customers however anyone who is very serious about participating should contact them as they will consider the membership. The company will also provide incentives which will allow their projects become even more sustainable.

This program is only available for client who are based in North and South Carolinas, and Florida.

GE: 5% Equaling $20 Billion of Gas is being Wasted World Wide

According to the lastest General Electric study 5% of the world natural gas is being wasted because of inefficient management. Gas companies around the world are wasting this natural resource by falring (burning) it. 5% many not seem to be much at first glance but this is enough to supply 30% of the consumption demand of the EU and 25% of the US equaling $20 billion. The technology to prevent this exists today but its not being used by most rafineries.

Germany Grants Mexico $7 Million Towards Climate Change

On June 3-4 during the 1st Dialogue Forum on Climate Change Germany (host of the conference) has granted Mexico $7 Million towards sustainable housing and the improvement of polluted places. This is the second time Germany made a such donation as earlier they have granted $3 Million.
